Abstract
Renewable energy e.g. photovoltaic and wind energy
has the disadvantage that it is not permanently
available. The demand does not correspond to the
energy production often. Therefore, it is necessary
to develop a new efficient energy storage system. A
promising attempt is the storage of hydrogen. An
electrolyser run by solar power and wind energy
separates water into oxygen and hydrogen. The
produced hydrogen is stored in metal hydrides. A
fuel cell can produce electric power by reconversion of hydrogen
and oxygen into water. The properties of chosen
phase change materials are used for the absorption
and desorption of hydrogen. The goal of this project
is to develop a system to store 50 kg of hydrogen in
metal hydrides at low pressure and temperature. The
connection of hydrogen and heat management will
improve the efficiency of storing renewable
energy.
